Aside from the Galaxy S6, most of the recent flagships coming out of Samsung have featured IP68 water resistance. The new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are no exceptions, as they can handle depths of up to 5 feet of water for 30 minutes. Unlike other super durable handsets, you won’t need to deal with any additional seals or flappy rubber gaskets. In addition to the ability to withstand water, the S8 and S8 Plus also come with stunning new extra-wide screens, Samsung’s new Bixby voice assistant and Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 835 processor.

Previous iterations of Apple’s flagship phones were not known for being able to stand up to accidental splashes. That’s changed with this fall’s introduction of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Both new models now offer iP67 water resistance, so they can withstand a 30-minute dunk in about 3 feet of water. That doesn’t match what Samsung offers with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, but at least the latest iPhones can boast better durability than before.

The LG G6 is an amazing smartphone that is also water resistant. LG packs in all the features we want in a flagship smartphone in 2017. You won’t want to swim with this phone, but you can use it around water without worrying about a splash or a quick drop into water.
